  1. You have no idea how much I needed your article “Speaking to the Soul: Awakening to who we are” today. Thank you so much! It’s amazing how caught up we get with our own lives (in my case my job and some of the people I work with) and how we seem to forget that first and foremost we are children of God and belong to Christ. And ultimately…what else really matters?

  2. Dear Laurie,
I write in response to your post on ecafe this morning. My wife and I belong to St. Stephen’s in Birmingham and were supposed to be at dinner 11 days ago when 3 of our friends were shot and killed in the parish hall. We have openly wondered if our church’s open and accepting might have made us a target. It could have been that or a thousand other things that caused that poor man to do the terrible things he did. However, the funerals were amazing. The outpouring of love in all three was palpable. The three who died were doing what they always did, inviting the stranger into their midst when he turned on them. There is a great resolve among the leadership and membership that we will not change, we will not let this terrible act change our way of being “Christlike”. It is a terrible price to pay for that choice, but it is the way of the Cross.

  3. Laurie,
Your book, Lovingthe Six-Toed Jesus, touched me deeply.

I am a Benedicitine sister at Benet Hill Monastery. I worked with S. Colleen in the Global Spiritual Direction Program.

I am a lesbian and so much of your story of Sarah and Genie was a part of my story.

Thank you for your book and your honesty…also your Theology.
